About Us

Quality, Sturdy Construction
Security Gate Company manufactures the "classic" design of folding gate that has been around for years, and proven over and over to be durable and dependable. Our folding steel gates are made of 3/4" wide 14 gauge steel channel, riveted back to back with solid steel rivets. Solid steel rivets provide abundant strength to last longer under any conditions. We use 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1/8" thick hot rolled angle iron for upright gate rails, that resist abuse and last longer than thinner alternatives. Our drop pins are made of 5/8" round rod and our casters are hard rubber. We thoroughly coat our gates using black enamel paint.

Security Gate Company supplies gates in standard sizes from 4-1/2' wide by 5-1/2' high single gates to 16' wide by 8-1/2' high double gates. We also make custom size single and double gates up to 10' high. Call for quotes on custom sizes. We carry door gates for openings 24" to 48" wide in heights from 61" to 83" and portable gates 6 and 12 feet wide.

When looking into a metal security gate, you also need to consider the security of the lock you plan to use on it. While accordion security gates and security folding gates are strong and difficult to get through, the lock you choose must also hold up to the same standards and there are many locks to choose from. The standard padlock has variations such as laminated, shrouded, and solid-body, all of them have their pros and cons. Laminated padlocks are famous from the Master Lock advertisement where a hole was shot through one and the lock stayed secured; laminated locks are made of individual steel plates pressed together with rivets so that if one is cracked, the rest will still stay strong. The benefit to the laminated lock on steel gates is that it can withstand a lot of pressure, the drawback however is that the shackle can be easily cut with bolt cutters and twisting with force can break the rivets causing the lock to fall apart. The next kind of padlocks that could be used on steel security gates are shrouded and disc padlocks which operate by obscuring and blocking the shackles to make it harder for bolt cutters or pry bars to break; the downside to these solid-body locks however is that they can be damaged by smashing. Some basics to look for on a padlock for your steel security gate is that the shackle needs to have at least a 10 mm diameter to be considered high security and solid/case hardened steel is the best material to use. The kind of lock you need depends on your intended use; if you are looking for industrial security gates, you will want an industrial, high security lock, however if you are looking for security gates for residential use where the lock is mainly a deterrent, a padlock made of lesser quality metal or with a smaller diameter shackle may fit the bill.
